To mark the European Day of Languages this year the Modern Language Department organised a wealth activities. There was a special international lunch in the canteen and the school rooms were labelled in French. Of course pupils were able to work them out and nobody arrived late to class!
After schools clubs joined in on the fun. Pupils enjoyed watching ‘Boule et Bill’ in film club and culinary skills at cookery club were tested as the French assistant help pupils make crêpes à la française and of course pupils enjoyed sampling them afterwards. Miam Miam!
The French assistant and some pupils teamed up with Ballyclare Primary School for their EDL fun day. They worked with the p4s, heard all about the great research p4 had done on France, taught them the parts of the body and how to sing ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’ in French.
There was also the ‘Talented Teacher Competition’. So many teachers in BSS speak at least one more language, fluently of just enough for a holiday. Pupils had to work out what language the teachers spoke. The winner will be announced in the next few days.
