U16 Proceed to U16 High School Cup Final

The U16 High School Semi-Cup Final was played at Roughfort on Wednesday 25th February at 3.30pm against Lagan College. As Ballyclare won it last year the team were nervous as the whistle blew and the match began, but it didn’t take long for the Ballyclare girls to get their game face on. Within the first ten minutes Ballyclare completely dominated play and went one up.

Lagan College fought back and began to put Ballyclare under some pressure, but Ballyclare remained unmoved with Kelly Crone organising the back four and ensuring no shots were allowed inside our circle.

Play continued in the Lagan half again and resulted in Ballyclare being awarded a penalty corner. Excellent precision from Amy Baxter ensured that Ellie Cooke had plenty of time to slot her second goal in the net.

During the second half Ballyclare continued to play good hockey, linking up passes, providing support and ensuring they had more goal scoring opportunities. Ellie Cooke was to get her name on the score board twice in the second half as well, with the final score being 4-0 to Ballyclare and the girls having succeeded in reaching the final for a second year in a row. Super result, let’s hope we will be as successful in the final.
