On Monday 30th January, the year 10s attended a languages and careers event. Speakers from Stealth Translations in Larne, NICILT (Northern Ireland Centre for Information on Language Teaching & Research) and Eurolink shared the value of language learning and the need for linguists in Northern Ireland.
The pupils learnt about companies who need linguists, language-studying options and the skills language-learning bring and they heard from students who had studied and worked abroad. Pupils worked in groups, discussed their options and they were able examine what Brexit means for languages. They discovered that the need for language skills is even greater and those without languages will be at a disadvantage.
