Year 8 visit Carrickfergus Castle

In June 2016 Year 8 History pupils had the opportunity to visit the Carrickfergus Castle.  Carrickfergus Castle is a Norman castle situated in the town of Carrickfergus in County Antrim. It remains one of the best preserved medieval structures in Northern Ireland.  They learnt about the  Norman invasion of Ireland, sampled what it was like to swing a medieval sword, and scrambled down the spiral staircase once used by John de Courcy’s Knights.
