October- Presentation Afternoon

The Senior Choir alongside the Junior Choir performed in front entrance hall before the annual presentation afternoon. This was a great start to our choir season when we were able to sing some of our favourites and test out a few new pieces after only a few weeks rehearsal. A number of the invited guests and prize winners commented on how uplifting our contribution to the afternoon was.

November- Clare Chorale- Annual Charity Concert for Aware NI in The Great Hall at Stormont Parliament Buildings

In early October we were glad to accept the kind invitation from The Clare Chorale (a local choir based in Ballyclare) to join them for their annual charity concert. We were delighted with the invitation and even more so once we found out the venue was The Great Hall in Stormont. We began preparing our pieces and worked well together as a group to move out usual choir practice due to bus strikes and even have several early morning rehearsals starting at 8.30am. On Friday 24th November we made our way to Stormont and received a warm welcome from the choir. We were blown away by the acoustics in the building and that we had been given such an opportunity to sing there. The Senior Choir sang the four pieces; You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray, Why we Sing, Rise Up (soloist Abigail Pye) and the girls sang This is Me (soloist Connie Taylor). The chairperson from The Clare Chorale encouraged the Senior Choir to continue singing even when no longer at school and how singing can be a great source of friendship and enjoyment. This was thoroughly enjoyable occasion and one that will be remembered by all for a long time to come.

December- Christmas Concert

On Wednesday 13th December we participated in the Bi-annual school Christmas Concert. Our boys were the foundation of our performance of Holly Jolly Christmas and the girls sang Mary Did You Know. Our favourite part of this concert is when we join with the Junior Choir and perform as one joint choir. This year we performed Somewhere in your Silent Night something that we did for our recorded virtual Christmas in 2021. We also performed Immanuel by Michael Card and our soloist as Year 14 pupil Sarah Campbell.
