The Junior Choir is open to all year 8 and 9 pupils who enjoy singing. You do not need to have any experience of singing in a choir, just be open to learning new songs, having fun and making lots of new friends. There is no audition and everyone is welcome. Junior Choir is held at lunch time so that it is accessible to all and you do not have to worry about arranging transport home after school.
Our first performance this year was at our annual 'Celebration of Success' afternoon. At this event the Junior Choir performed to pupils, parents and distinguished guest as they arrived for the event. They sang two pieces, the first of which was an African chant and the second that well known piece from Mary Poppins 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocioius'. (This was a sneak preview of what will come in our production of Mary Poppins).
Junior Choir sang as part of the Offstage Chorus of Mary Poppins. The choir had lots of fun being involved in their first school production and worked incredibly hard throughout the rehearsal process.
The choir brought some Christmas cheer to the end of term by carol singing at the school’s ‘Big Cuppa’ event, in assembly and on the last day of term alongside members of the Senior Choir.
Please come along and join in the fun!
Finally in April we were able to hold our first face to face concert in 3 years! It was wonderful to have all of our school community be able to share and celebrate the pupils successes throughout the year.
