The Year 13/14 BTEC Sport students went on an educational visit to the Ulster Rugby Kingspan Stadium Tour today. This tour allowed the pupils to see behind the scenes of a major sporting organisation and related specifically to their sport modules of Sport Events, Sport Promotions and Business in Sport. A very enjoyable day was had by all and it was a great experience for our BTEC sport students!

In last week’s assemblies we celebrated excellent attendance. Pupils who achieved 100% attendance during last academic year were presented with certificates. We also presented class attendance trophies for the month of October. Congratulations to 8W, 9O, 10O, 11H, 12P, 13J and 14A!

On Friday 17th November wear odd socks to school to support Anti-Bullying Week.

Luke Agnew (10M) returned from Portugal last week after an amazing performance at the IAME World Finals. Competing against over 100 competitors, he made it through all five heats to the last day of racing and qualified 14th to start in the final. Well done Luke.

The Intermediate netball team played in the NI Blitz tournament at Antrim Forum last week. They had some tough competition against Ballymena Academy, Antrim Grammar School and Ballyclare High School. Captain Sarah provided excellent motivation to her team. BSS took the lead in the second half against Antrim Grammar but couldn't hold on during the last few minutes of the game. Special mention goes to Emma Taylor whose speed around the court led to many interceptions. Well done to all the players!

Today in Mrs Weir’s ICT class pupils from 9W made posters for ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ in Adobe Photoshop.

The Year 9 hockey team played their first game in the East Antrim League against local school Carrick Academy and won 1-0. The Ballyclare team had most of the possession in the first half. Ivy McFall led the attack by making some lovely runs into the opposition’s circle. Lexie Fellowes scored the only goal of the game by a lovely deflection into the corner of the net! Overall a great team performance on a windy day! Well done girls.

Jamie Peoples (9K) raced at Leinster Kart Club, Athboy in the 1st leg of the winter championships at the weekend. Despite the wet conditions, Jamie raced really well and went on to win. Well done Jamie!
