Senior Choir

Where and When

Day – Wednesday
Time – 3-4pm
Venue – Drama (Room 102)

Senior Choir is open to all pupils in Years 10–14. There is no audition, and you do not need to be able to read music or have previous choir experience to join. The only essential requirement is a willingness to get involved, have fun, and enjoy making music together!

We would particularly encourage pupils who study, or are considering studying, GCSE or A Level Music to take part, as choir is a fantastic way to develop musical skills, confidence, and performance experience.

Our repertoire is wide-ranging and exciting, including religious music, pop songs, musical theatre favourites, and traditional music from around the world. Through our singing, we explore music from a variety of cultures, taking us on a journey from Africa to America and beyond.

Come and join us!

Senior Choir 2025/2026 Year

Senior Choir enjoys a busy and rewarding year of music-making, performance, and competition. Throughout the year, members develop their vocal skills while exploring a diverse repertoire that includes pop, musical theatre, sacred, and traditional music from around the world.

One of the highlights of the autumn term is performing at the school's Celebration Presentation Afternoon, where the choir contributes to this important occasion and showcases the musical talent within the school community.

In December, the choir took part in the annual Christmas Concert, performing It's Christmas and What Christmas Is For. These festive pieces helped create a wonderful seasonal atmosphere and were warmly received by the audience. The concert also featured a special combined performance by the Junior and Senior Choirs of Light of the World, bringing singers from across the school together in a memorable celebration of Christmas.

In March, the choir represented the school at the Ballyclare Festival, providing pupils with the opportunity to perform in a competitive setting and gain valuable experience singing before an adjudicator and audience. The choir benefited from the expert feedback of Dr Jonathan Drennan, whose adjudication provided valuable insights and encouragement. Taking part in the festival challenged the choir to perform to a high standard and further develop their ensemble skills.

The spring term culminated in the annual Spring Concert in April. Senior Choir performed Adiemus and Love Shine a Light, showcasing both the versatility and musicality of the ensemble. A particular highlight of the evening was the combined Junior and Senior Choir performance of Seasons of Love. Despite having only one rehearsal together, the choirs delivered a confident and moving performance, demonstrating the dedication, talent, and teamwork of all involved.

Senior Choir is supported by our dedicated Music Mentors, Abigail and Kendra, who play an important role in rehearsals and performances throughout the year. Their enthusiasm, leadership, and encouragement help create a positive and welcoming environment for all choir members, while providing excellent support to younger singers as they develop their confidence and musical skills. Thank you for all you did!

Senior Choir offers pupils the chance to develop confidence, teamwork, and musical excellence while forming lasting friendships and creating unforgettable performance experiences so do come and join us.

2026 brings the return of the school production which will interrupt Senior Choir rehearsals- keep a close eye on the Pupil Bulletin and Google Classroom for updates.
