PROSPECTUS

Sixth Form Admissions

The task any school faces is to build a curriculum, sufficiently broad, flexible and stimulating to engage the diverse range of aptitudes young people bring with them to school. It is our aim to assist pupils to acquire intelligence and to nurture their individual aptitudes and abilities to develop life-long learners.

Having reached the end of Key Stage 4 there are important choices to be made regarding the various routes available at Post 16. Our 6th Form provides an exciting and broad range of courses which will prepare young people for further study or to take their place in the world of work. The purpose of this booklet is to ensure that pupils and parents/carers are fully informed about the opportunities for further study in Ballyclare Secondary School and within the Ballyclare Learning Community.

The Entitlement Framework requires that we offer a wide range of subjects to pupils at Post 16 and for a number of years we have been working in collaboration with Ballyclare High School in an effort to increase the number of subjects available.

It is important that pupils make an informed choice when selecting their subjects for study at Post 16 and they are supported throughout this transition stage by the careers staff, Mr Adams and Ms Russell. Please do not hesitate to ask them or any of your subject teachers for advice.

Further advice is available from Dr. Flint, Senior Teacher of Learning and Teaching.
