Mental Health Awareness Week

As it is Mental Health Awareness week, on Monday, the staff and pupils wore something yellow to raise awareness and donate money for the charity AWARE. The school was bright and colourful and quizzes, thankfulness boards and collections are ongoing until Friday. Thanks to Miss Dunwoody for all the organisation.

Futsal Success

Following the futsal tournament last Friday, at The Valley Leisure Centre, both teams did very well. Year 8, a team that had never played together before, drew 2 games and lost 2 games. There were some great goals scored by these girls.

Also, the Year 10-11 team did fantastically and comfortably won every match that they played. The Year 10 and 11 girls got through to the semi-final and beat the opposing team! The girls strongly got into the final and of course, had the strength and ability to beat the other team. This means that the Year 10 and 11 girls won their regional final and are through to play all other regional finalists at a later date. Well done to all involved!

European Day of Languages 26th Sept 2022

To mark the European Day of Languages the Modern Language Department has organised a few activities:

CRÊPES À VENDRE

Mais oui! Crêpes2Go will be in school on Monday 26th September from period 1 -8 selling crêpes to Years 9 and 10 and to pupils who study GCSE French.  Pupils must have prepaid using ParentPay.  This will be opened up to Year 8s if we don’t get a lot of payments.

LANGUAGE AND CULTURE TASTER

The European Day of Languages is devoted to promoting awareness among the general public of the importance of language learning and protecting linguistic heritage.

This year we have chosen to look at the Ukrainian language to help us appreciate language and diversity.

Here is a video from Olga saying hello to us in BSS and she teaches us hello, goodbye and ‘How are you?'.  This youtube video breaks it down more slowly of you want:
