A very early start this morning for our amazing 21 pupils and 3 staff members, Dr Flint, Miss Beattie and Mr Hennessy, who met at Belfast City Airport at 4.15am to begin their journey to China!
They’re heading first to Edinburgh before making the much longer journey to Beijing later today.
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable trip and hope they have an absolutely brilliant experience together.

Duke of Edinburgh applications for this year are now open. There are 14 spaces available at Bronze (year 10) and 14 at Silver (Year 11) you do not have to have completed Bronze in order to do Silver. Spaces are filled based on the scores of the answers you give on the application form. Successful applicants will be notified shortly after closing and it costs £75 to do Bronze and £85 to do Silver.
Application forms are available from Mr Crothers’ office with a closing date of 6th November.
Our Year 14 BTEC Sport students, alongside our Year 11 Occupational Studies Sport group, enjoyed a fantastic visit to the home of Ulster Rugby.
The students were privileged to receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium and had the exciting opportunity to watch players training as they prepared for this Saturday’s big fixture at the Affidea Stadium.
It was a brilliant chance to gain an insight into the demands of elite-level sport and an inspiring experience for everyone involved.

We will mark Mental Health Day on Friday 16th October. Pupils are asked to add something yellow to their school uniform.
Yesterday in Occupational Studies, we had a culinary demonstration from John Clark, Head Chef at Malmaison Belfast. John prepared a range of taco dishes from the hotel's menu, giving pupils the opportunity to see high-quality ingredients, professional knife skills and the use of a blowtorch up close.
Several students volunteered to assist John, giving them the chance to showcase their own culinary skills. He also spoke about his educational journey and the path he took to becoming a head chef, having started his career washing pots and peeling potatoes.
John shared valuable tips on restaurant-style presentation, which will be particularly beneficial for our Contemporary Cuisine students. Pupils were then encouraged to sample the dishes and provide their feedback. Judging by some of their comments, they may be tougher critics than some of the professionals!
Yesterday, 13 pupils from our Music Department had the privilege of attending a Royal Marines workshop in Carrickfergus, alongside pupils from Ballyclare High School and Larne Grammar School.
The day included a two-hour music workshop, a presentation on professional music careers and a Q&A session with members of the band. A particular highlight was the opportunity to perform alongside these talented professional musicians!
Our pupils had an amazing day, gaining valuable experience, inspiration and memories to take back to their own music-making.
A huge thank you to the Royal Marines Band and everyone involved in organising such a fantastic opportunity.

Well done to Ruby, Evie, Kristanne & Jake on taking 2nd place. Daniel also had a very successful round in the 90cm individual competition going double clear.
