The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh groups battled changeable weather for their qualifying expedition in the Mourne mountains recently. After braving the wind, rain, fog and occasional spot of sun they have all successfully completed their qualifying expedition. Just the Silver Award teams remain to complete the expeditions for this academic year.

Great success for one of our Year 8 pupils, Aoife Masterson and her partner Nellie, who came joint 1st place at the NI gymnastics championships on Sunday. Congratulations Aoife. We are very proud of you.
On Wednesday 28th May, the year 8 netball team travelled to Magherafelt High School to compete in the Finals Day against Sperrin Integrated College.
The team faced tough competition on Finals Day but showed great teamwork and determination. Every player gave their all, and it was fantastic to see how well the team pulled together under pressure. Alexis led confidently as captain, and Lexi was named Player of the Match for her brilliant interceptions. Our defence worked hard to stop many goals, while the attackers did well to score against strong opposition. It was a valuable learning experience, and we’re proud of the effort and spirit shown by every player and are already looking forward to building on this performance next year. Congratulations, Year 8 for coming second in the NEBSSA league!

In Science, Year 8 have recently been learning about Forces and to finish their topic they have been investigating the force being exerted on paper rockets by compressed air. They had a design and make competition before testing to see how far each rocket flew. Astronauts Mr. Wray, Mr. Campbell and Mr. Hanna were supervising the launch and retrieval of each rocket.
