U14 Rugby Team at the High School 7's Event

On another lovely sunny day the U14 rugby team put in a strong performance at the High School 7’s event hosted at Rainey Rugby Club in Magherafelt. The U14 side made a very strong start winning all 3 group games convincingly against Limavady High School, Lisnagarvey High School and Bangor Academy. This strong showing led to a semi-final up against St Mary’s Magherafelt who unfortunately managed to beat us 40-24 in a very competitive game. The boys ended up finishing 3rd overall as they managed to beat Priory Integrated College in the 3rd/4th place playoff. What a great way to sign off a successful season! Well done boys!

The Under 14 Rugby Team Win the High Schools Plate

On Wednesday 2nd of April the U14 rugby team competed in the final of the High Schools’ Plate coming up against a strong team in Royal School Cavan hosted at City of Armagh Rugby Club. In a team led well by their captain Zac Minford, our U14 team produced their best performance of the season and managed to win the final convincingly 52-0. The team played exceptionally well in the final with all players contributing positively to the result but a special mention must go to a few of our stand out players on the day, including our man of the match Danny Smith as well as strong performances from Alex Janiszewski, Zac Minford and Seth Forsythe. Well done boys!

Year 12 Football Team Win the Under 16 Belfast Shield

Congratulations to the Year 12 Football team who won the Under 16 Belfast Shield on Tuesday 8th April in a thrilling final at The Blanchflower Stadium. Ballyclare Secondary school defeated RBAI 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 0-0 after extra-time following a tough match with nothing between the sides even though Ballyclare enjoyed plenty of possession and exerted significant pressure. This is the first time in Ballyclare Secondary’s history that we have won a Belfast District football competition, previously being defeated in one final and two semi-finals. Congratulations to this group of pupils who have represented Ballyclare Secondary School extremely well over the last five years and what a fantastic way to finish their journey as a team together. The team and coaches would also like to thank their supporters (pupils, staff, families and friends) who contributed to such a memorable and history making occasion. We celebrate together on a momentous day for BSS!
