Overview
This course is an alternative to GCSE Religious Studies. The course is designed for learners who wish to develop knowledge and understanding in religious studies in order to recognise religious choices people make based around faith practices within different religions in today’s society. It is intended that learners will develop empathy, respect and awareness of other religious beliefs and cultural diversity as they are applied in everyday life situations. These qualifications provide learners from different religions with opportunities to
examine their own faith practices and those of others in the context of the units provided.
Course Content
Over the two-year course students will complete the following units:
- Addiction
- Charity and Religious Charities
- Exploring Personal Identity and Faith
- Exploring Religious Traditions within Own
Community - Life and Death Issues
- Life of a Famous Person of Faith
- Marriage and Divorce
- Prejudice and Reconciliation
- World Faith
Summary of Assessment
This qualification is 100% centre assessed using portfolios of evidence, that will be collated over the two year course. This qualification is graded as Pass or Fail. A pass is aligned to a grade C at GCSE.
Progression Pathways
This course provides a pathway to many Level 3 qualifications. It is not a suitable lead in subject for A-level study.
