All pupils are required to wear uniform and we appreciate the support of parents in maintaining this. Uniform helps with creating a positive school identity, reducing social barriers, creating self esteem and self respect. It helps pupils to feel a sense of belonging as well as identifying them as ambassadors for the school.
There are a few changes in our uniform this year. They have been highlighted in blue text below for your convenience.
Boys' Uniform
Blazer - Royal blue blazer with school badge
Trousers - Black
Shirt - White school shirt
Tie -
Key Stage 3 House Ties (Years 8–10): Compulsory for new Year 8 pupils but optional for Years 9 & 10 (note: the current Key Stage 3 tie is no longer available.)
Key Stage 4 Tie (Years 11–12): New design with a single school crest, compulsory for Year 11, optional for Year 12.
Pullover - Long sleeved V neck sweater
Socks - Grey socks
Coat - Plain navy, blue or black outdoor coat
Shoes - Black formal sensible leather shoes. Casual shoes of any kind are unacceptable. ‘Converse’ style shoes or boots are unacceptable whether in leather or canvas. Shoes with logos, symbols, flashes of colour or brand names are not acceptable.
Scarf - A navy school scarf is available from the school office
Jewellery - Boys are allowed to wear one ring. All other jewellery, earrings and facial piercings including tongue bars are not permitted in Ballyclare Secondary School.
Extreme hairstyles - or extreme hair colouring will not be permitted. Hair must be natural in colour. Boys are expected to be clean shaven.

Girls' Uniform
Blazer - Royal blue blazer with school badge
Skirt - Grey Box Pleat Skirt (26” or 28”): Compulsory for Key Stage 3(Years 8-10)
Current senior skirt for KS4 & KS5 until August 2026, when it becomes compulsory for all to wear
the box pleat skirt.
Blouse - White school blouse

Scarf - A navy school scarf is available from the school office
Jewellery - Girls are allowed to wear one ring and one stud in each earlobe. All other jewellery, earrings and facial piercings including tongue bars are not permitted in Ballyclare Secondary School.
Excessive makeup - is not to be worn in school. Only clear nail varnish is permitted, no other colour. All nail varnish may be requested to be removed where safety hygiene is an issue in specific subjects.
Extreme hairstyles - or extreme hair colouring will not be permitted. Hair must be natural in colour.
