In light of the growing number of pupils across the borough who struggle with school attendance due to anxiety-based school avoidance (ABSA), Strive NI are running a new peer-to-peer group that has just begun for parents who have children who are unable to attend school due to anxiety. The group meets every month in Newtownabbey and is open to all parents & carers whose children may struggle with school attendance.
Last weekend, Scottish Gymnastics hosted the first Home Nations Tournament since 2019. The competition saw Teams travel from Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales to compete in the Caledonia International for Acrobatic, Men’s & Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.
Our very own Year 10 pupil Hollie Conlan was selected as part of the Northern Ireland team. This was a fantastic opportunity and honour for Hollie to travel with the team, to wear the Gymnastics Northern Ireland tracksuit and to compete at a high level.
The competition took place over 2 days with incredible talent from the Home Nations, not least the 21 Gymnasts from Northern Ireland!
Congratulations to the Ballyclare RFC 1st XV and 2nd XV in their respective successes. A special mention to the past pupils of BSS who continue to make a contribution to the community. Well Done!
