Culture Club Explore Chinese New Year

Today in Culture Club, we made red envelopes—traditional gifts given to children during Chinese New Year, usually filled with money. Mr. Guan gave Alan and Abby Labubu pendants and chocolate to place in their envelopes. Happy Chinese New Year!

Year 9 Hockey Success

The Year 9 hockey team rounded off their campaign in the East Antrim League this week in fantastic style.

On Tuesday, the girls faced Larne High School and secured an impressive 2–0 victory. Erin H and Layla T were on the scoresheet, while Ana G was key to the successful win, putting in a tremendous performance and making a big impact for the team.

They finished their league campaign on Thursday against Parkhall College with a dominant 5–1 win. Goals came from Erin H, Layla T, Faye W and Jessica D in a confident and composed team performance.

Captain Ruby McAuley was a standout player, proving to be a real game changer and leading the team brilliantly on the pitch.

The girls have now won every single game in the league — an outstanding achievement! Congratulations to the entire squad. We are extremely proud of you all!

Year 11 Occupational Sport Event

Our Year 11 Occupational Sport class delivered a fantastic morning of fun and competition for our Year 9 PE groups!

Students organised and ran three brilliant sporting events — pickleball, football, and dodgeball tournaments — showcasing great leadership, teamwork, and initiative.

All points earned will contribute to the school house system, adding an exciting competitive edge to the day.

Well done to everyone involved for making the event such a success!

Deeply Saddened by the Loss of Our Former Pupil Claudia

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our former pupil, Claudia Jaczyk.

Claudia was a truly lovely young person - full of life, always chatty, enthusiastic, and friendly. Her bubbly nature, sweet personality, and love of singing brought light and joy to those around her, and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

The entire Ballyclare Secondary School community wishes to express our deepest sympathy to Claudia’s family and friends at this heartbreaking time.

Our thoughts are with you all.
