Why study this subject?
This course is an alternative to GCSE Drama and will focus on developing the skills associated with the
Performing Arts. The creative and digital technologies sectors are areas of significant growth in the Northern Ireland economy. The expansion of the television and film production industry in Northern Ireland is well publicised and this industry has been identified as one which will be a major future employer in our province. Over the two-year course students will complete two units to fulfil the 15 credits necessary for the Level 2 certificate. The two units students will complete are:
- Performance Realisation Skills - Performer
- Event Organisation within the Fine Arts or Performing Arts
Summary of Assessment
This qualification is 100% centre assessed using portfolios of evidence and graded as Pass or Fail. A pass is aligned with grade C at GCSE.
Progression Pathways
This course could lead to a level 3 qualification in Performing Arts, specialising in stage design, direction or performance. There are more careers in the Performing Arts Industry than just performance jobs.
