LLW KS4

Key Stage 4

In Years 11 and 12 pupils have 1 period of Learning for Life and Work per week. This encompasses Citizenship, Personal Development and Education for Employability, although there is a heavy focus on Careers work as well. In year 12, the RSE programme is delivered through Learning for Life and Work. Brief outlines of the courses are provided below.

YEAR 11

Citizenship – Diversity and Politics (16 weeks)

Education for Employability – World of Work (9 weeks)

Personal Development – Personal Health (6 weeks)

Citizenship – Human Rights (5 weeks)

The above areas are dealt with in a more mature, although sensitive and appropriate, manner than in Key Stage 3. Focus is give)n in Education for Employability on the concept of Work Experience, and assistance and guidance is provided to the pupils on choosing their Year 12 placement.

Special, increased focus is given in Year 12 to work on the Progress File, with emphasis being given to its relevance and importance.

YEAR 12

Education for Employability – Preparing for Work (16 weeks)

Personal Development – Family Life (11 weeks)

The emphasis in year 12 is on Education for Employability, and there is close co-operation between LLW and the Careers programme. In LLW, pupils will complete the Sentinus Application Forms for the Interview Skills day, and also complete the CVs and Personal Statements for the Progress Files.

Special, increased focus is given to work on the Progress File, with emphasis being given to its relevance and importance.
